Early in June, nationally renowned chef/author, John Ash, came to Papa Mojo’s with Marilyn Markel, of A Southern Season. The “Father of Wine Country Cuisine” got to enjoy our cajun/creole cuisine and spend some time visiting with Chef Melton while on his East Coast visit! THE 2010 BEST DISH IN NC COMPETITION IS ON!!!!
We’re excited that, for the third year running, Papa Mojo’s is a Finalist in the Casual Dining category for the BEST DISH in NC.

Come on down through the month of JULY and taste Chef Melton’s special Entry Menu:

Appetizer - Fried colossal crab-stuffed shrimp w/ jezebel sauce
Soup - Sweet corn bisque with local goat cheese crostini
Entree - Pork Osso Bucco braised in Carolina Brewery Copperline Amber Ale reduction, served w/ cane syrup glazed sweet potatoes & pan fried greens
Dessert - Rustic peach tart with Mapleview Farms vanilla ice cream & pecan praline topping.

An anonymous panel of three judges will visit restaurants across the state through July and judge dishes on use of North Carolina products, creativity, presentation, taste and promotion. Winners will be announced in August. Read more: Durham Herald Sun | Best Dish

TUESDAY TRIVIA NITES @ Papa Mojo’s
Come on down for an interactive evening of fun. We now have TUESDAY TRIVIA hosted by Colby Almond from 8:00-10:00pm EVERY TUESDAY. It consists of 2 rounds of general questions - a round of both movies and music questions - and a final top-ten questions. So join in and sharpen your wits with us. Not only is it engaging fun with friends - you may even win a prize!

PAULA DEEN & CHEF MELTON @ DPAC

On June 5, Chef Melton was invited to join PAULA DEEN on stage @ the Durham Performing Arts Center!! On her performance tour, Paula selects local chefs to prepare her dishes with her on stage - and Mel had a blast sharing some memorable moments through the afternoon with Paula & her husband, Michael.

June was a charmed month for MEMORABLE MUSIC on our stage!

We kicked off the month with BIG BILL MORGANFIELD, who blew us away with his classic Chicago Blues style on June 4.

And if that wasn’t enough, on the following weekend, singer/songwriter SETH WALKER inspired a full-house on June 11. Nashville-based, Austin-influenced, and North Carolina-bred - Seth gave us a show to remember!! You can trust we’ll have him here again.

But the Icing on the cake was the SOUL REBELS BRASS BAND -this New Orleans troupe electrified the room and gave us an experience that was off the chart!! If you were in the house - you’ll never forget the full effect of all that soul-stirrin’ BRASS!!

Thanks always for making Papa Mojo’s one of your favorite destinations. We’ll keep “stirrin’ it up” with great food & great music!! And, don’t forget to come taste Chef Melton’s BEST DISH entries this month-- they’ll be sure to tantalize your senses!
