PAPA MOJO’S ENTRY FOR 2010 BEST DISH IN NC COMPETITION
We’re excited that, for the third year running, Papa Mojo’s is a Finalist in the Casual Dining category for the BEST DISH in NC.

Chef Melton’s special Entry Menu Items that will be featured on our menu in July include:

Appetizer - Fried colossal crab stuffed shrimp w/ jezebel sauce
Soup - Sweet corn bisque with local goat cheese crostini
Entree - Pork Osso Bucco braised in Carolina Brewery Copperline Amber Ale reduction, served w/ cane syrup glazed sweet potatoes & pan fried greens
Dessert - Rustic peach tart with Mapleview Farms vanilla ice cream & pecan praline topping

An anonymous panel of three judges will visit restaurants across the state through July and judge dishes on use of North Carolina products, creativity, presentation, taste and promotion. Winners will be announced in August. Read more: Durham Herald Sun | Best Dish

Chef Mel’s COOKING CLASS at A Southern Season on Sunday, July 18 (2:00-5:00pm)
Fair warning - Chef Melton’s cooking class is usually a sell out! So make your reservations early to be right up front and learn some great cooking tips and taste his complete 2010 BEST DISH menu entries. Not only that, his Wicked Mojos band will entertain you between courses!

EXPANDED CATERING & EVENT SERVICES
Papa Mojo’s is expanding its catering and entertainment offerings to include non-Cajun food menus, event planning and management for private, corporate, and public events throughout the Carolinas and Southern Virginia.

Our new Special Events Coordinator, ANGIE SANTIAGO, will oversee expansion of these services. We embrace her strong background and experience in these areas! With her commitment to building quality relationships and producing memorable occasions, Angie will represent PMR well in various community and cultural events. SATURDAY JUNE 5 - BLUES, BREW & QUE - Historic Durham Athletic Par
Noon to 8:30pm - admission $5 (children free)

Join us in supporting this great event to benefit the Food Bank’s 2010 KIDS SUMMER STOCK program. They’ll have 5 topnotch Blues bands, brews to include brewed tea and beverages from local breweries, and a NC Pork Council sanctioned BBQ cook-off that morning (Food served while supplies last!) Blues bands include: Will McFarlane & Armand Lenchek & Friends / Jo Gore & the Alternative / Rootzie / Hell Camino / Mel Melton & the Wicked Mojos. TUESDAY TRIVIA NITES @ Papa Mojo’s
Come on down for an interactive evening of fun. We now have TUESDAY TRIVIA hosted by Colby Almond from 8:00-10:00pm EVERY TUESDAY. It consists of 2 rounds of general questions - a round of both movies and music questions - and a final top-ten questions. So come on down and sharpen your wits with us. Not only is it engaging fun with friends - you may even win a prize!

HAPPY HOUR @ PAPA MOJO’S - Tues. - Sat. - 4-6pm
We’re a great destination to unwind after work with friends - and we’re conveniently located close to the Research Triangle Park. Come on down and enjoy 1/2 price appetizers and various drink specials while you brush off the stress of the day with us.

June 19 - Hell Camino - these musicians are hard driving, in-the-pocket, and well-known for stirring up their audience with style.

June 25 - Will McFarlane - we love it when Will puts his talent to work at the Roadhouse - he’s as solid a musician as you’ll find in these parts!

Janiva Magness put her spell on all of us with her powerful, show-stopping vocals last month. It was an electrifying experience we won’t forget!!

Cedric, Mel Melton & Malcolm

Cedric Burnside & Lightnin’ Malcolm delivered their hard-drivin’ Mississippi juke-joint style with such a force. They are smokin’ with talent. It was an authentic swamp-stompin’ night with two monster-musicians that are the Real Deal!!

Thanks always for making Papa Mojo’s a favorite destinations in South Durham! We’ll keep “stirrin’ it up” as we serve up our traditional gumbos, crawfish, catfish & brunches. And, keep an eye out for great summer food & drink specials -AND Chef Melton’s BEST DISH entries in JULY-- they’ll be sure to tantalize your senses!
