-- Papa Mojo's 2009 Best Dish menu also took "center stage" in a major Herald-Sun feature story on June 10th. As the 2008 Grand Award winner, Mel led off a special four part series on the Triangle chef-finalists in the 2009 "N.C. Best Dish" competition. A photo of Mel's blueberry pan dowdie dominated the front page of the food section and a photo, interview, and three of Mel's 2009 Best Dish recipes were also featured in the story. If you missed it, you can see an abbreviated version in our Press section on our website.
-- We were delighted that Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps included us in their latest trip to the East Coast - and, on June 19th, they rocked Papa Mojo’s once again!! What’s more, folks traveled from across the state (and DC and Chicago!) to join us for this special night. Teresa and her band were in top-notch form and she had us spellbound - from ballad to hard stompin’ blues!! Then, they invited Mel to join them for the second set and that’s when the mojo vibe went into a whole new gear -- ‘twas a night we won’t soon forget!! You can count on the Rhythm Tramps returning later this Fall.
-- On June 20th, Chef Mel joined Angus Barn's Iron Chef Walter Royal and recent Bobby Flay "Throw Down" champion BBQ Pitmaster Ed Mitchell and chief judge, David Hunt to judge the 27th Annual Hillsborough Hog Day BBQ Competition. Thirty BBQ teams from across the state competed, and winning honors went to Jeff Whitney and Frank Volger of Clemmons, NC.
