
May 2nd - 11am - 6pm - Festival for Wildlife
Mel and the Wicked Mojos will be performing at 1:15 pm at the 2nd Annual Festival for Wildlife at Leigh Farm in Durham. This event features fun activities for the whole family, storytellers, hiking tours, live music and presentations by wildlife and environmental groups throughout NC. What’s more, Papa Mojo's Roadhouse is a featured food-vendor for this event sponsored by the Durham Parks & Recreation. More information.
May 5th - 5pm -10pm - Cinco de Bayou Celebration
Come celebrate the spirit of Mexican culture with the Roadhouse Family for their special Cinco de Bayou Celebration. Papa Pedro is serving up his native Mexican specialties accompanied by tantalizing dessert and beverages. And, we’ve arranged for some special music that will take you South of the Border for the evening!
May 5th - Tir Na Nog - "Be That Band" Competition
Mel Melton & the Wicked Mojos are one of 5 finalists in the Artsplosure competition: Be That Band! The winner will be the opening act for Buckwheat Zydeco on May 16th at Raleigh's downtown Art Festival in Moore Square. The top 5 bands will battle it out at Tir Na Nog Irish Pub on Tuesday, May 5th. Congratulations to Mel & the Wicked Mojos -- let's have a great turnout to cheer them on to victory!!!
May 16th - 40th Bimbe Cultural Arts Festival
On Saturday, May 16th. The City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department will host the 40th Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival in Downtown Durham from noon-9 pm at the CCB Plaza (201 Corcoran Street). Papa Mojo’s will be serving up classic Cajun food to the folks coming out to enjoy this day of music, crafts and dance celebrating African American traditions. Learn more.
** Memorial Day Weekend** - May 22 through May 25 CLOSED
Papa Mojo’s will be open for lunch on Friday May 22, but will close at 3 pm in observance of Memorial Day Weekend The restaurant not be open from Friday afternoon through Monday evening. Mel and Krewe wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend!
May 29-30 - 2nd Annual “Got to be NC Festival”
Mel will be doing a food demonstration at the NCDA’s Agricultural Festival on May 30th at 1 pm at the NC State Fairgrounds Expo Center. The Goodness Grows program is sponsoring the expo for chef finalists in the 2009 “Best Dish in N.C.” competition to showcase recipes using locally produced NC ingredients. Mel is one of the four Triangle finalists and a complete list of finalists, restaurant information, menus with photos, chef bios, judging criteria and contest information is available at www.bestdishnc.com.
June 7 - Chef Melton @ A Southern Season
Mel and the Wicked Mojos are performing at CLASS at Southern Season as Mel cooks his 2009 menu for the "Best Dish in NC" competition on Sunday, June 7th. from 2-5 pm. This CLASS is limited and always sells out, so enroll for the class early at www.southernseason.com.

May 1st - Legendary JC’s - $10
This band is known for their dynamic and tight performances - we’re talking sweaty, horn-fueled, good ol’ Rhythm & Blues!! Front-man Eugene Snowden is known for leading the band into energized revelry that keeps an audience wanting more! Papa Mojo’s is proud to have them coming to town --come on down & catch this inspiring band!
May 9th - ZYDECOPIOUS - $8
If you haven’t had a Zydeco - fix lately - this band will have you jumpin’ & dancin’ before you know what hit you! They’re a well-seasoned band that is known for being one of the best in the region!
May 15th - BOB MARGOLIN - $10
We welcome back this classic Blues Guitar icons, Steady Rollin’ Bob Margolin!! We enjoy being one of his favorite places in NC to perform (and eat!) - and if you haven’t been to the Roadhouse for one of his past performances, you’ve got this opportunity in May!
May 29th - BLACK DOG SYNDROME - $8
This home-grown band with an all-original sound has just released an new album produced by John Hanks and Mitch Easter at Fidelitorium Studio.So, they’re celebrating w/ a CD release party at Papa Mojo’s - come on down and enjoy the occasion with them!

Chef Melton is offering up authentic Beignets, Cajun Omelettes, Roadhouse Poached Eggs, and the sweetest Pain Perdue (his version of French Toast) on Sundays from noon - 4:00!!
